Doug started Manning in 1985. His enthusiasm for emerging technology has guided the company’s evolution from television and video production into the creative multimedia agency Manning is today. Most recently, Doug’s interactive work has earned an official Webby nomination as well as Adobe’s Site of the Day award.
Doug has more than three decades of experience with strategy, visual communications and writing. Before founding Manning, Doug worked as a Broadcast Producer at CBS News in New York where he also covered the presidential campaigns and traveled on assignment throughout the Middle East and Europe. Doug has written, produced and directed programming that has won numerous awards including multiple Tellys and a national Emmy.
Kirk has more than a decade of experience working in digital media and software development including leadership roles delivering large web, multimedia and software development projects.
As Vice President and Senior Program Manager, Kirk brings a strategic vision and management to digital projects. Kirk is a solution-oriented strategic thinker with deep technical knowledge, and the ability to manage all roles, responsibilities and stakeholders involved. He has worked with a vast array of brands including the ABA, ACLU, Barclaycard, BCBSA, Crocs, Home Depot and Victoria’s Secret.
Kirk earned his Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications, Information Studies & Media from Michigan State University.
Char is Vice President of Manning Productions which she co-founded in 1985 with her husband, Doug. She is responsible for business operations of the company.
Char began her career at NBC in Chicago where she engineered some of the first live minicam trucks and went on to work as an audio engineer and one of the first female TV camerawomen in Chicago. She also covered the Reagan presidential campaign for NBC News.
Nicole embraces a unique approach as a Digital Designer that merges her experience with digital, print, motion graphics, and illustration. Her goal is to create and develop innovative design solutions that provide excellent usability and interactivity. Nicole’s digital design skills are complemented with her strong understanding of social media engagement.
Nicole received a master of fine arts degree from Yale School of Art and a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from the University of Chicago. She previously worked as a digital and print designer at the Chicago Booth School of Business. She is inspired motivated by the interplay of color, shape, and texture in both abstract and representational spaces. Additionally, her design work is inspired by her love of contemporary sculpture, which she continues to practice at her New York studio.
